Intern Fired After Asking What KPI Stands For During QBR

CHICAGO, IL — A summer intern was reportedly escorted from company headquarters Tuesday after asking senior leadership to clarify the meaning of “KPI” during a quarterly business review.
Witnesses say the room fell silent before several executives exchanged nervous glances, having also hoped someone else would eventually ask.
“It was incredibly unprofessional,” said the SVP of SEM, “you don’t say something like that in front of leadership.”
It has since been confirmed the intern’s position had been eliminated as part of a broader initiative to “protect organizational alignment” after determining the question had “created unnecessary transparency.”
At press time, the quarterly business review continued with 47 slides discussing work delivered, closing with a motivational quote attributed to a prominent LinkedInfluencer.
